Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon that varies by season, conditions, and moon phase, and cannot be guaranteed. For the best experience, we recommend booking around a new moon, when moonlight is at 20% or less and visibility is at its peak.

When is the best time to see the plankton?
We can usually see bioluminescent plankton year-round, but the best conditions are during a new moon phase when the moon is at 20% visibility or less, creating darker conditions. We schedule this tour around the best times to see the plankton.
